1. 9/11
2. The Second World War
3. The death of Michael Jackson
4. The day the car was invented
5. The ice age
6. The bulding of the pyramids
7. The day the plane was invented
8. The tsunami in Thailand
9. The earthquake in Haiti
10. When Barack Obama became president

9/11:
This date is a very known date worldwide, because of the two hijacked planes that crashed in to the Twin Towers (World Trade Center) in New York City. This effected the whole planet, because of all the people who died and because of all the chaos and drama that was caused when it happened. And of course, when presiden George Bush declared war agains Afghanistan.

The Second World War:
Hitler was a huge threat all over the world, and his way of "ruling" was very brutal, because he wanted to "cleanse" the world, by killing all the jews. He attacked several countries with his huge army, and started killing jews in the most brutal ways. He was a heartless, and very intellegent man, and he killed himself in 1945.

The death of Michael Jackson:
The day Michael Jackson died, half of the planets population bursted into tears. As he was the most, probably, famous and gifted popstar in the world, a lot of people love both him and his music, so this death caused a lot of sadness worldwide.

The day the car was invented:
This day was a revolutional day. At that time, no one probably knew how much the car was going to affect our lifes. Back then, only the most rich people could afford a car. And there was not a lot of cars to choose between. Now, we have A LOT of brands to choose in, and the price is VERY variable! Almost everyone with some kind of job can afford one. But you must have a licence to drive, and that also costs money ;)

The Ice Age:
A lot of the world was covered in ice, and the dinasoures died.

The building of the Pyramids:
The reason that I chose this is because of the HUGE constructions that were built only with human force. How in the world was this possible? I've read that they have tried to copy an ancient pyramid with modern technolagy and machines, but they didn't manage to do it. The way it is built is just unbelievable.

The day the plane was invented:
This day is also revolutional. Planes are extremely important now adays, becuase of their high speed, and that they fly. This is really effective, compared to busses, cars, trains and boats. But causes a lot more environmental issues.

The tsunami in Thailand:
This was a tragic nature catastrophy. Many people died, a lot of land was ruined and a lot of buildings and homes.

The earthquake in Haiti:
This was also a tragic nature catastrophy, since a lot of people died and a lot of things like land and buldings was ruined.

When Barack Obama became president:
This is a quite fun happening, since he promised a lot of stuff BEFORE he was chosen to become the next president of the United States. And he can't keep all of his promises, which is rediculous. And he is the first black president.

Task 2

Australia!

Here is are some rather strange, and maybe fun, facts about Australia:
  • Australian mines ( wich is one of the most important industries in Australia) cover 0.02% of Australia's land mass. More land is covered by pubs.
  • In 1954 Bob Hawke made it into the Guinness Record Book by drinking 2.5 pints of beer in 11 seconds. Bob Hawke went on to become the Prime Minister of Australia.
  • There are over 1500 species of spiders, over 6000 species of flies, 4000 species of ants and about 350 species of termites in Australia.
  • Termites are also called white ants, but they're not ants, in fact not even closely related to ants.
  • Tasmania, in Australia, has the cleanest air in the world
  • Melbourne, in Australia, has the second largest Greek population in the world, after Athens.
  • The Great Barrier Reef is the largest organic construction on earth.
  • Termite mounds are the tallest non-human constructions on earth.
  • The average Australian will consume 165,000 eggs in his or her lifetime.

I found all these facts on different websites about Australian facts/fun facts. I found A LOT more facts, but I didn't think they were to unusual, or to strange.

Task 3

There is a lot of multiculural societies, for example in Norway. In Norway there's a lot of foreigners living here, and the Norwegian community is becomming more and more multicultural. This may seem as a problem for some, because they are demanding that the Norwegians accept their way of living. They have their own monastaries and mosques, and a few Norwegians does not like this.

When two cultural families bond, for example a Norwegian lady and a Pakistanian man get married, this may cause problems when it comes to cultural traditions, and as we saw in the movie, the mix of cultures led to a lot of problems when it came to marriage for their kids and stuff like that.

Task 1

My expections of this course is to be better in English. I honestly dunno why I wanna be better at speaking English, since I can speak English quite good, specially compared to the grammar part, but I guess it's a good skill when it comes to traveling and studying in other countries.

I know that I need to be quite good at speaking English, since I plan on going on a backpacking trip to America. I really don't know WHEN, but I know I'm going! And since I'm going to America, it would be rather handy to know how to speak good English.

My future plans, when it comes to education and work, is that I really don't have any plans. In the beginning it was really all about computers and electronics and stuff like that, but I kinda found out that I'm not that into it as I thought i was. The only thing I really wanna do is travel. Even though I haven't travelled a lot in my life, I'm still really into it. When I read stories about people who live like backpackers, I get soooo inspired! I could defenitly live like that! On the move all the time, being at all the places around the world. Would be awesome!
